The Moment of Creativity
Someone asked me recently where the hell do I come up with the ideas for my books. I told her I didn't really know. They just pop in my head. They may be precipitated by some random event or thought.
I might have had a dream or a nightmare.
They could originate from news story on the television.
However, I can say with profundity that the creative moment of the book you see to my left occurred after I was whistling a tune in my house.
I had a flashback to when I was whistling in the house when I was admonished for doing so by my mom. She didn't explain why. Back in those days you didn't ask why. You just trusted what parents told you and did what they said.
I just figured it was another one of our superstitions like don't put a hat on the bed, or don't walk underneath a ladder, and make sure you cook black eyed peas on New Year's day.
I decided to do a little research into the myth, as I always do when I have a new book in mind and discovered some interesting information.
It didn't originate in the deep south by the descendants of slaves. No it originated in a more cooler climate. Good ole Mother Russia.
So now I had all the ingredients to write this fiction.
1. I had an idea for the title.
2. I had the basic info for that idea.
Now the only thing I need is a:
4. Character development
6. Final cover design
7. Launch date
Wish me luck.
