Today is Day 13 of my new horror novel, “Never Whistle in the House”. I’m only on Chapter 2.
This is the book I dreaded. The one that starts with good intentions and then turns around and breaks my balls. This is the book I dreaded. The one that starts with good intentions and then turns around and breaks my balls. I think the problem is having to write a book in an era I never lived through. But I refused to be denied. I just pulled out my old google weapon and did a little research.
Let me show you how a lack of information can throw your book for a loop. I had intended for the antagonist, Vasile Sala, to meet his love to be, Darla Collins, while they were both attending college in 1925. Unbeknownst to me, women weren’t allowed to attend college until 1930! Once I fixed that little item, the book started to flow.
Then the outline started to change. As most of you know, I am an outliner. When I began outlining NWITH on 9/25/20, I came up with only seven chapters. After I finished Chapter 1 and started Chapter 2, the book is looking to create an additional chapter because Chapter 2 has become Chapter 3. I've seen this happen before with Frankenstina, which was supposed to be only 20 chapters and wound up being a whopping 27 chapters. Crazy right? Hey, but it happens.
So this book that was supposed to be finished tomorrow 10/11/20 and launched on 10/12/20 is not going to happen. I'm going to shoot for a Halloween launch day along with the other 10 million authors.
